Chem 2310, Organic Chemistry I. This is the first semester of a two-semester sequence that satisfies the course requirement in organic chemistry for many science majors and health pre-professions. The current format includes 3 lectures per week plus one discussion section organized as a group workshop. Full details are given on the course website (see webct) for registered students.

Chem 7470, Nucleic Acid Chemistry. This course treats DNA and RNA as organic molecules with structure, shape and chemical reactivity. Key topics include reactions of sugars, phosphates and nucleobases pertinent to toxicology and cancer, DNA and RNA-based therapeutics and their mechanisms of action, and the chemistry of designer oligonucleotides for applications in medicine, computing and nanotechnology. Full details are given on the course website (see webct) for registered students; this course is usually offered in the Spring B term.
